TL;DR Dr Wilcox’s office is a disaster.
I saw Dr Wilcox for about 5 minutes and he determined that surgery was the best option so I scheduled and left with very little information on what to expect. 3 days before surgery his office phoned me to ask for PT notes because my prior authorization hadn’t been approved yet. They gave me the wrong fax number to send the notes to but I was eventually able to get the notes across to them. The following day it was denied and surgery was pushed back two weeks. A week later his office finally submitted an appeal which was also denied. Any time I tried to call for an update I reached a voicemail and occasionally received a call back. After the appeal was denied I went in for another appointment to discuss next steps and was told they would be submitting another appeal (which my insurance had already told me was not possible). I was offered two different types of injections and was told neither would likely help very much. I went to a different surgeon for a second opinion and was told that the missing information for the prior authorization could only be obtained with an XRay (which was never done by Dr Wilcox). It has been almost 2 weeks since I was told that his office was filing a second appeal and I have not had any contact from anybody at OPA.

After multiple visits to different doctors, I finally found someone that was sympathetic to the situation. I appreciate his treatment.

I've waited awhile before posting a review. I wanted to see how the initial injury I saw Dr. Wilcox for would play out with others doctor's feedback and treatments. I was referred to him by my trusted Chiropractor. I provided medical documents prior to the appointment (tests, scans, etc). He advised he had reviewed prior to my appointment when we met. He proceeded to conclude this is an injury I would feel for the rest of my life. I will never forget this unnecessary comment. I remember looking at him and saying, "I don't believe you. " I went to another doctor shortly thereafter and no more than five minutes after evaluating me, he figured out the source of pain. Three rounds of Prolotherapy saved me. I am happy to report that Dr. Wilcox: you were WRONG. I feel absolutely nothing h today as if I was never injured. You made a crappy comment on an injury you did not properly evaluate. You deserve a zero star review.

Dr. Wilcox did a great repair on my knee (ACL + meniscus). But beyond his surgical work, I appreciate his direct communication and medical explanations. I came in with a lot of questions about options (both surgical and non) and he very clearly explained my options and possible outcomes. I also loved his super relatable bedside manner. I would certainly recommend him to friends in need of orthopedic care and would see him again if I sustain more mid-life injuries! PS he did my neighbor’s knee and she agrees!

Dr. Jason Wilcox is one of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. He’s so friendly and down-to-earth, which immediately put me at ease. He took his time, answered every question thoroughly, and explained everything in a clear, thoughtful way. I never felt rushed, and I left the appointment with a solid plan I feel genuinely good about. The rest of his staff was wonderful as well, professional, kind, and efficient. I can’t recommend Dr. Wilcox highly enough!
