Orthopedic Surgery, Joint Replacement

Roberto “Rob” was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County, California. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chapman University while serving 11 honorable years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman specializing in Orthopedics. During his military service, he worked as an orthopedic technician, gaining extensive experience in musculoskeletal care and patient support. Following  his time in the Navy, Rob continued working in orthopedics at The Polyclinic and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was part of the orthopedic trauma, hand, and foot and ankle teams. He also completed post-baccalaureate studies at the University of Washington before earning his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2025. He graduated with Honors and was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society for Physician Assistants. Rob is passionate about serving Seattle’s diverse community. Growing up in a Mexican and Salvadoran household, he became fluent in Spanish and developed a deep appreciation for culturally responsive care. He values family deeply and strives to treat every patient with the same respect, compassion, and dedication he would offer his own family.  Outside of medicine, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, exploring Seattle, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He is excited to join Dr. Matsen and Dr. Ko and looks forward to providing high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care.
