OPA Surgeons Donate Their Expertise and Services to Bring Life-Changing Hip and Knee Replacements to Local Patients

Through Operation Walk 2014, OPA surgeons donated their services to provide hip and knee replacements to local patients, free of charge. Orthopedic Physician Associates (OPA Ortho), Swedish Medical Center, Physicians Anesthesia Services, and Project Access Northwest proudly participate in Operation Walk USA, an independent medical humanitarian organization that provides free hip and knee replacement surgeries to patients in the US.

Multiple community partners came together to help Mr. Ortiz get these life-changing surgeries at no cost to him. Dr. James Crutcher, an orthopedic surgeon with Orthopedic Physician Associates (OPA), Dr. Deborah Merrill, an anesthesiologist with Physicians Anesthesia Service (PAS), and their associates will be there for his surgery.

The staff and providers at Swedish are taking care of him during his hospitalization; Stryker Triathlon PS is providing his replacement knee; and Project Access Northwest is coordinating his referral and appointments with the specialty providers and his primary care clinic, Neighborcare Health at Rainier Park.

In addition to Mr. Ortiz, two other patients will be the recipients of joint replacement surgery as part of Operation Walk USA 2014.
